13 Most Beautiful...Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests is a multimedia performance featuring large scale video projection of rare Andy Warhol portrait films with live musical accompaniment by indie-rock luminaries Dean Wareham & Britta Phillips. Among these 13 portraits shot between 1963 and 1966 are those of Warhol superstar Edie Sedgwick, musicians Lou Reed and Nico, and actor Dennis Hopper.
13 Most Beautiful was commissioned jointly by The Andy Warhol Museum and The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and has been seen the world over including dates at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Barbican in London, and The Sydney Opera House.
This is not only the sole performance scheduled in Georgia, this is something of a regional premiere as well.
Especially unique to this performance is that after 13 Most Beautiful, Dean & Britta along with their band will perform a set of tunes by Dean's former band, the seminal and somewhat legendary Galaxie 500.
13 Most Beautiful is being presented at the 2010 Westobou Festival on Saturday September 18th at 8 p.m. at The Sacred Heart Cultural Center in Augusta, Georgia. Tickets can be obtained at www.westoboufestival.org/tickets or by calling (706) 550-4943
