Note: I had the opportunity to visit Rosewood Cottage a week or so ago. I was impressed! I could have wandered around for hours looking at the cool studio, the fabric art for sale... and I wanted to get to work making something! It's a superb working studio in a gorgeous 'cottage'. I hope you'll make the trip to Senoia and check it out. I covet half the things I saw and would love to learn how to make some of them!  - jmd

Holiday Silk Workshop by Hellenne Vermillion

Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Binders Art Supplies at Piedmont Peachtree Crossing, 3330 Piedmont Road, Suite 18, Atlanta, GA 30305

$85.00 (Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance members), $93.50 (non-members)

Need a unique holiday gift, wall hanging or addition to your scarf collection?

See what the ancient art of silk dye painting is all about in this fun filled workshop. Hellenne is an accomplished silk painter who will teach you techniques to create your own 11"x 60" silk scarves using a resist and Jacquard dyes. Learn how to draw and transfer your designs onto the silk. Then, once the resist has dried, mix and apply dye colors and set the dyes. The results: a colorful scarf or wall hanging, perfect for a gift or a treat for yourself!

This is a beginner- to intermediate-level workshop. The workshop is limited to 10, so please register early at www.fiberartsalliance.org/home/classes.
