Arts Event Transforms Historic Castleberry Hill Neighborhood October 24

“Le Flash,” a night of art, light and sound
Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill district and Cleopas Park
7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 24

For one night, Georgia State artists will transform the streets of Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill district as part of “Le Flash,” an event coordinated by Welch School of Art and Design gallery director Cathy Byrd and local artist Stuart Keeler.

Performances and shows from percussionists, poets, filmmakers and fashion designers are among the more than 30 projects that will be featured as part of “Le Flash.” Highlights include an iron pour and the unveiling of a temporary fountain in Cleopas Park created by Paris-based artist Kristina Solomoukha.

“Stuart Keeler and I invented ‘Le Flash’ as a way to animate the neighborhood and synergize the relationship with the park,” Byrd said. “It’s a community project, and so many of Georgia State University’s staff, students and faculty members have become involved in making this happen.”

Byrd said she hopes that Solomoukha’s exhibit will help bring more Castleberry Hill residents to Cleopas Park, as it is currently an underused cultural space. “Le Flash” will be happening in collaboration with Castleberry Hill’s Fourth Friday Art Stroll, linking the historic district’s monthly event to the park.

“The energy’s there, the excitement’s there, and the community is waiting to share it,” Byrd said.

It's "The Wizard of Oz" at the Legacy Theatre, Tyrone, Georgia

The Legacy Theatre, South Metro Atlanta's only full-time professional theatre, is excited to announce youth company auditions for "The Wizard of OZ"!

Auditions will be held Saturday, March 15th from 9am-12pm at The Legacy Theatre, 1175 Senoia Road, Tyrone, GA. This audition is for ages 5-17 only and will be for the youth company of our professional production and summer camps!

All those auditioning will be asked to sing either 1 Chorus or 16 Bars from a song of their choice a cappella (without music) and learn choreography.

There will be a sign up sheet the day of the event. Everyone will audition on a first come first serve basis. Those auditioning may be cast as part of the pre-show, as Munchkins, as ensemble members or in minor roles.

Auditions will be held at The Legacy Theatre (1175 Senoia Road, Tyrone, GA, 30290) March 16, 2PM-4PM. 18+ ONLY. No appointment necessary, sign up sheet available upon arrival. Seeking all Principle roles. Also casting members of the Ensemble to play Osians, Winkies, Jitterbugs, etc. Please prepare 16 bars from classical music theatre and one one-minute comedic monologue. May be asked to read from script. May be asked to stay for dance call beginning at 4PM. Please bring appropriate attire. Paid positions and apprenticeships available. Competitive salary.
