Shorter College To Host Concert By Pianist Emile Pandolfi

Emotion-packed arrangements, listenable classics, giggles, and guffaws combine to form the recipe for a fantastic performance by solo pianist Emile Pandolfi. The performer has been described as having “monster” technique, an unparalleled musical sensitivity and a passionate soul; he has also been described as “a really funny guy” with a great sense of comedic timing.

Shorter College will bring Pandolfi’s live show to the Rome City Auditorium for a matinee performance at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4. Tickets for the event are $18 for adults, $15 for senior adults, and $10 for students and may be purchased by calling the Shorter College Box Office at 706-233-7288.

“When you hear Emile Pandolfi play, you know that you are hearing one of today’s finest pianists,” said Dr. Matthew Hoch, assistant professor of music at Shorter and coordinator of the college’s Guest Artist Series. “Emile applies his classical technique to Broadway and popular music, in addition to classical performance to the delight of his audiences. Those who attend will be treated to a brilliant musical performance and entertained by Emile’s charming sense of humor and friendly personality.”

Pandolfi applies his life-long classical training in piano to his arrangements of songs by Lloyd-Webber, Rogers & Hammerstein, and Mancini. He has sold nearly three million CDs that feature show tunes and pop standards, earning him recognition as one of today’s best-selling pianists in the alternative music industry. Encore Magazine adds, “Pandolfi is first and foremost a musician, albeit it a highly entertaining one.”
