Magic Duo Presents Land of Illusion December 12

Stay close to home and enjoy a spectacular holiday extravaganza with modern day Houdinis Kevin and Cindy Spencer at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. The dazzling duo will present “The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion” on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. on the University of West Georgia campus.

The family show will cross the threshold of reality as the theatre of illusion launches you into a world of magic, comedy, romance and suspense. The Spencers propel the art of magic into an unforgettable theatrical experience for the entire family. Early ticket purchases are recommended, said Robert Jennings, artistic director of the Townsend Center.

“This is a wonderful holiday event for the community to enjoy,” said Jennings. “The high caliber of the entertainment matches other metro shows easily and the festive decorations will delight the children.”

The Spencers’ performance will follow the annual Rudolph to the Rescue Toy Drive and reception, a Department of Family and Children Services benefit for underprivileged children of Carroll County. The community is invited to join in the festivities in the lobby before the show at 6:30 p.m.

The Spencers are international stars and have been named Performing Arts Entertainers of the Year for six consecutive years. No other performer has held the title longer and only one other magician, David Copperfield, has received such recognition.

They have also been honored as the Best Touring Production, Best Major Performance, Best Variety Artists and Best Performing Arts Event. In 1996 and 2000, winning over such contenders as the Dave Matthews Band and Garth Brooks, they were recognized as College Entertainers of the Year. This show is one not to be missed.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and military, and $10 for children. Discount packages for purchases of three or more shows scheduled for December and the upcoming spring semester are available. TCPA Box Office hours are Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and one hour before the start of the event. For more information, call 678-839-4722.
