This one is already running, but it goes through January... better late than never, right?
“…the snow cackled and the wind whistled around him; it was just the kind of frosty weather a Snowman might thoroughly enjoy. But he did not enjoy it; how indeed could he enjoy anything when he was sick…stove sick?” -Hans Christian Andersen, The Snow Man
In Jon Ludwig’s new, lively take on a classic tale, we travel to a dreamy, snow-laden countryside to meet Sam, a newly built, innocent snowman who falls in love with a stove. Will this romance spark, or can the young Snowwoman conquer Sam’s heart and save him from himself? Sam the Lovesick Snowman plays November 20, 2008 – January 4, 2009 in the Center for Puppetry Art’s Downstairs Theater.
“What I liked most about the original story is the wide-eyed innocence of Sam the Snowman,” says Artistic Director Jon Ludwig. “Everyone but Sam can see that the stove is too “hot” for him. Plus, we get an opportunity to travel to a Winter Wonderland without ever leaving the mild Georgia winter,” Jon concludes.
A classic story of unrequited love with a unique holiday twist, Sam the Lovesick Snowman is based on
“The Snow Man,” by Hans Christian Andersen. This hilarious and heartwarming story is sure to melt your heart this holiday season!
Adapted and directed by Jon Ludwig, Sam the Lovesick Snowman welcomes puppeteers Dolph Amick and Amy Rush, with music composed by John Cerreta. Lighting is designed by Mike Post and sound is designed by Kristin Von Hinezmeyer. The puppets were created by Chris Brown and the costumes are by Scottie Rowell. All puppets in the show interact amid scenery designed by Roy Howington.
