"All that Glitters" by Linda McCarrey at Roush Family Gallery

The Roush Family Gallery of the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center presents “All that Glitters” a mixed media delight by renounced artist Linda McCarrey. The exhibit which is open to the public runs from October 3rd through November 2nd, 2008. There will be a closing reception on October 31st from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. The public is invited to attend and meet the artist.

Linda was born in a small town in southern Illinois about an hour east of St. Louis. After marrying her high school sweetheart, they moved to metropolitan Atlanta in 1972. They have lived in their current home for 30 years. She has her art studio there as well. With 42 years of marriage, 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, numerous cats and dogs, she shows no signs of slowing down.

Linda draws on her rich experiences and vast formal education to produce her works. She has received degrees from Clark College, Dubuque IA, Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria, University of Illinois, Urbana, IL and Georgia State University here in Atlanta. Rich textures, surfaces and combinations of rich pigments and natural elements set her art apart from many others. Before opening her studio, Linda was a commercial artist creating publication pieces for the DNR Human Resources. She was the principal artist for the DNR with the Georgia State Parks.

Linda has received many awards in art festivals all across the eastern seaboard. She was one of seventeen pre-invited artist to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, CO. Her works hang in private collections from Massachusetts to Florida to Colorado. Linda’s work can also be found in the corporate collections of Saks Fifth Avenue, Seaman-Patrick Paper Company and the Office of the Dean of The University of Michigan.
